Inmate Money

Each prison has a Commissary which was created to provide inmates a bank type account for inmate monies and for purchasing things not provided by the correctional facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Family, friends, or other sources may add funds to inmate’s Commissary accounts with Western Union or by mail.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send prisoners funds in the postal service and have to send money to the following address and follow the steps shows below:

The money must be in a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day hold period, and during this period the prisoner will not have access to the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will return any funds that don’t have appropriate inmate information if the envelope has a return address. Cash and personal checks cannot be accepted for deposit so don’t send any checks or cash.
