Take I-10 to Exit 142 (SR-71 North) to Highway 90/71. Turn left onto Highway 90/71 and go west to the second traffic light (Taco Bell is on the left and a shopping center is on the right). Turn right and go 17 miles north on Highway 71 to the town of Malone. Facility located on west side of Highway 71, one mile north of the traffic light in Malone.

Inmate Money

Each state correctional institution has a Commissary which serves to provide a bank account for prisoner money and for purchasing things not provided by the facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Friends, family, or other people may add money to inmate’s Commissary accounts using Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can choose to send prisoners money through the mail and must send money to the following address and follow the steps listed below:

The funds must be a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You are advised to use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day hold, during which the prisoner will not have access to the depsoit. The Bureau of Prisons will send back any funds that don’t have valid inmate information provided the envelope it was sent it has a valid return address. Cash and checks can’t be accepted for deposit so don’t send any checks or cash.

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
