Inmate Money

Every state correctional institution has a Commissary that was started to provide prisoners a bank type account for inmate monies and for buying things not provided by the facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Friends, family, or other people may add funds to these accounts by sending it by Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can to send prisoners money in postal mail and must send the moneyh to this address and follow the policies written below:

The money have to be a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day holding period, and during this period the prisoner will not get the depsoit. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender money orders that don’t have valid prisoner info if the envelope has a return address. Checks and cash will not be accepted for deposit so don’t send checks or cash.

Inmates with ending numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 are permitted visits on the corresponding date ~
(e.g., January – December 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, etc.)

Inmates with ending numbers 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 are permitted visits on the corresponding date ~
(e.g., January – December 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, etc.)

Inmate Visitor Procedures

Visitation Sign-In and Check-In

The front entrance guard will ensure every visitor signs the prisoner visitors log when they enter the visitation area and also when they leave.

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
