Directions

From East/Raleigh, take I-40 west. Take the Hillsborough exit. Proceed through Hillsborough onto NC 86N. Take NC 86N to Yanceyville. In Yanceyville, turn right onto NC 86N toward Danville, Virginia. At second stoplight, the intersection of NC 86 and 158, turn right onto County Home Road. Go approximately Ľ of a mile and turn left onto Murray Road. Follow Murray Road for approximately 1 mile. Dan River Prison is at the end of Murray Road.
From West/Greensboro, take I-40/85 east, then get on NC 29N toward Danville, Virginia. In Reidsville, take NC 158 exit to Yanceyville. Proceed through the stoplight, the intersection of NC 158 and 86 onto County Home Road. Go approximately Ľ of a mile, turn left onto Murray Road. Follow Murray Road for 1 mile. Dan River Prison is at the end of Murray Road.

The money have to be a money order made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day holding period, and during this period the prisoner will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will send back money orders that don’t have appropriate prisoner information provided the envelope you sent it in has a valid return address. Checks and cash can’t be accepted so don’t send cash or checks.

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
