Each prison has a Commissary which serves to provide a bank account for inmate monies and for buying things not provided by the prison.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Family, friends, or other sources may deposit funds to inmate’s accounts by sending it by the U.S. Postal Service and Western Union.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends are able to send inmates funds in postal mail and will have to send the moneyh to the following address and follow the steps shows below:

The money have to be in the form of a money order made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You are advised to use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day hold period, and during this hold period the prisoner will not get the depsoit. The Bureau of Prisons will send back money orders that don’t have correct inmate info if the envelope you sent it in has an adequate return address. Cash and personal checks will not be deposited so do not send checks or cash.

Inmate Visitation Schedule

Ross Correctional Institution:
Visiting is closed on Mondays and all State Holidays.
Visiting hours are 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Visitors must be processed in no later than 1:00 p.m. in order to be permitted to visit.
Inmates with numbers ending in an even number (2,4,6,8,0) may have visitation on even number dates.
Inmates with numbers ending in odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9) may have visitation on odd number dates.
Visiting Tuesday through Sunday
Reservations are accepted “one calendar month” in advance with only one reservation made per request and no later than 48 hours before the scheduled visit.

Inmate Programs

The Cognitive Behavior Therapy program is structured as a three (3) month Intensive Out-Patient (IOP) Program treatment program utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the main approach of treatment. The New Life program is specifically targeted toward people who have chronic problems with substance abuse and criminal behavior. The program provides a positive environment where people who have similar problems can live and work together to improve their lives. Provisions are made so the environment is cohesive within the program milieu. Therefore, the Staff of New Life Program is providing the highest degree of comprehensive quality care including; chemical dependency education, counseling, healthy life choices, and a life of sobriety.

The Victim Rights Act grants victims the following rights:

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
