Directions

NECX Main, Mountain City: I-40 East to I-81 North. Take the Johnson City Exit #57. You will then be on I-26. Take I-26 to Elizabethton Exit. Go through Elizabethton to the 19E Bypass. Turn right. Go approximately 7 to 10 miles. Turn left on Highway 67 (to Mountain City). Go approximately 30 miles. The institution is on the right before you get into town. CC Annex, Roan Mountain: I-40 East to I-81 North. Take the Johnson City Exit #57. You will then be on I-26. Take I-26 to Elizabethton Exit. Go through Elizabethton to the 19E Bypass. Turn right. Go approximately 12 miles on U.S. 19E. Turn left on Old Railroad Grade Road. There will be a green sign with the name of the institution. The institution is .5 miles from there.

Inmate Money

Each state correctional institution has a Commissary that was started to provide a bank account for prisoner money and for buying items not issued to inmates by the Bureau of Prisons.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone may send money to prisoner’s accounts with Western Union or by mail.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can to send prisoners money through the mail and must send funds to this address and do so in accordance with the directions listed below:

The deposit has to be in the form of a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day hold, during which the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return any funds that don’t have appropriate prisoner info provided the envelope has an adequate return address. Cash and checks cannot be accepted for deposit so don’t send any checks or cash.

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
