You should use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day hold period, and in this time the inmate will not have access to the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will return funds that do not have appropriate prisoner info if the envelope you sent it in has a valid return address. Personal checks and cash won’t be deposited so don’t send any checks or cash.

Routine work assignments are available to prisoners and Level I prisoners may work on public work assignments in the surrounding community under supervision of corrections staff.
