You should use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day holding period, in which the inmate will not get the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender funds that do not have correct inmate information provided the envelope it was sent it has a return address. Cash and checks cannot be accepted so don’t send cash or checks.
