It is best if you use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day hold, in which the inmate will not get the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will send back funds that don’t have valid inmate info provided the envelope has an adequate return address. Checks and cash cannot be deposited so do not send any checks or cash.
