Inmate Money

Every prison has a Commissary that was created to provide prisoners an account for inmate monies and for buying items not provided by the correctional facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Family, friends, or other sources may send money to these accounts using Western Union or by mail.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends are able to send inmates money in the mail and have to send those funds to the following address and follow the policies given below:

The deposit has to be in the form of a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day holding period, and during this period the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return funds that don’t have appropriate inmate info provided the envelope it was sent it has a return address. Cash and checks will not be accepted for deposit so do not send any checks or cash.
