Inmate Money
How to Send an Inmate Money
Anyone can add funds into these accounts with Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.
Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send inmates money through postal mail and have to send those funds to the address below and do so in accordance with the directions listed below:
The funds have to be a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day hold, and during this hold period the inmate will not have access to the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender money orders that do not have appropriate prisoner info provided the envelope you sent it in has an adequate return address. Checks and cash will not be deposited to the prisoner’s account so do not send any checks or cash.
