How to Send an Inmate Money
Family, friends, or other sources can send funds to these Commissary accounts by sending it by Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.
Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends are able to send inmates funds by way of the mail and have to send the money to this address and follow the policies listed below:
The funds must be in a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You are advised to use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day hold period, during which the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return money orders that do not have correct prisoner information if the envelope has a return address. Cash and personal checks will not be accepted so do not send any cash or checks.
