Inmate Money
How to Send an Inmate Money
Anyone can deposit funds to prisoner’s accounts using Western Union or by mail.
Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can choose to send inmates money through the postal service and will have to send the money to this address and follow the rules provided below:
The deposit has to be a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is best if you use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day holding period, and in this time the inmate will not have access to the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will send back funds that do not have appropriate inmate info but only if the envelope has an adequate return address. Cash and checks can’t be accepted for deposit so don’t send checks or cash.
