Inmate Money
How to Send an Inmate Money
Anyone may add money to prisoner’s Commissary accounts with the U.S. Postal Service and Western Union.
Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends can choose to send inmates funds through the mail and will have to send money to this address and do so in accordance with the rules provided below:
The money has to be a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is best if you use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day holding period, and in this time the prisoner will not have access to the money. The Bureau of Prisons will send back any funds that do not have valid prisoner info provided the envelope has an adequate return address. Cash and personal checks can’t be accepted for deposit so do not send any cash or checks.
