It is best if you use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day hold period, and in this time the prisoner will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender any funds that don’t have valid prisoner info but only if the envelope it was sent it has an adequate return address. Cash and checks can’t be accepted for deposit so don’t send any cash or checks.
