Inmate Money

Every prison has a Commissary which serves to provide an account for inmate money and for purchasing things not issued regularly by the facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone can send money to these accounts using Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send inmates money by way of the postal service and will have to send money to the address below and do so in accordance with the steps given below:

The funds must be a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day holding period, and during this period the prisoner will not have access to the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender money orders that do not have appropriate inmate info provided the envelope you sent it in has a valid return address. Cash and checks won’t be accepted for deposit so do not send any cash or checks.
