What this means is that the record of your arrest will be sealed, so no one will be able to access them. Depending on your situation, this may be a longshot.

Bail & Bail Bondsmen – How To Get Out of Jail
If you are incarcerated, your main thought is when and how to get out. After booking, a bail amount is set by the magistrate. In cases where no bail is set this can mean that you will either be free to go until your court date, or you are kept in jail until your court date.
If you are released you are required to agree to go to your court date, and until then you must not travel out of the county.
In most cases, a prisoner will be given time off for good behavior if they don’t break the rules and area a good inmate while incarcerated.
If you follow the rules, you might be given work release detail. You will either have to stay the jail every day after work, or you could be allowed to live in a halfway house instead of jail.
Bail
Bail is money that you will be required to pay to be released from jail until your trial. The amount of bail that is set is dictated by how serious your crime is. You will have to pay to the courts 10 percent of the total amount that was determined in order to be released. If you don’t go to court, the person that bailed you out of jail won’t get the bail money back.
Find Out How Much Someone’s Bail Is
In order to find out how much someone’s bail is, you must call the Graham County Jail. If you’ve got the person’s info, like name, address and date of birth, they will let you know how much their bail is. Also, you can find out how much their bail is online.
How To Bail Someone Out of Jail
Posting bail to get out of jail is never fun, but fortunately, its really easy if you have the money. First of all, you have to find out if they have a “Cash Bond Only” situation. If it is, you will not be able to get a bail bondsman. Bail can only be paid by cash – they will not accept a personal check. Once the cash bond has been paid, the prisoner will be released into your care. If the conditions of bail are not violated, you will get this money back.
Bail Bondsman
If the bail amount is too high, or you just can’t afford to pay it, you should use a bail bondsman. Bondsmen will generally charge you a fee of 10 to 15 percent of total bail, and usually with a minimum of $100. The amount you pay to the bondsman is non-refundable and must be paid in cash. If the bail has been set really high, the bondsman will in these cases use your assets as collateral for the bond.

Intake Procedures / Booking
The intake procedure takes you through the following steps:
- You will be placed in a holding cell. If the jail is really busy, you may not be processed immediately.
- The first thing you will have to is you have to answer some basic questions, like your full name, home address, birthdate and a contact person.
- They’ll also ask about your mental and medical history.
- You’ll be given an inmate number.
- Your fingerprints will be taken.
- You will have your mugshot taken.
- All of your personal property will be taken away from you and stored until you get released from jail.
- You will then be allowed to make a phone call so you can talk to a member of your family, friend, or bondsman to arrange bail.
- If you are expected to be released quickly, you will be allowed to wear your own clothes, otherwise you will be given a jail uniform.
Have you been arrested and gone through jail intake? If you have, please tell us what happened. How long did you have to wait in the holding cell? How were you treated? Can you share any secrets that could help other people that get arrested get through jail intake?

Discharge Procedures
Once bail has been posted, you will be discharged from jail. Getting discharged takes between 15 minutes to all day. Or, simply, the quicker bail is posted, the faster you can get released from jail. Also, it might depend on whether you’ve been given a bond amount or if the judge needs to decide on how much to set your bail at. For a minor offense, you will simply be booked and get released without having to post bail. When you have completed your jail sentence and are given a release date, expect to be released anywhere between the hours of 9am and 12pm.
How To Turn Yourself In
for your arrest, or if you must start a jail sentence, it is recommended that you follow the law and turn yourself in. If it is for a warrant, go down to the jail reception area, and tell an officer that you think there is an outstanding arrest warrant out for you. A record check will be run, and if so, they will take you into custody. When reporting to serve a sentence, go down to the jail at the exact time and date that the sentence order states. Be very careful that you don’t show up late. Just bring required items when you go, like a driver’s license or even state issued ID, prescription medication, and the official sentencing order.
Visitation Procedures
In order to have visitors, inmates have to give each visitor’s full name to the jail before anyone can visit them. Your visitor’s information will be put in a log of visitors for the requesting inmate. Each visitor will have to provide proof of identification. Any visitors showing up late or that is not on the visitation list will be turned away.
Jail visitation policies can change, so it would be wise to double-check the official Graham County Jail jail site before you go to visitation.
Visiting Hours
Phone Calls & Phone Usage Policy
The only phone calls that inmates are allowed to make are collect calls or through a pre-paid phone account. These phone calls are generally more expensive than phone calls made outside of jail. There are certain restrictions about when and how often you can use the phone, but you should keep in mind lots of people want to use the phone – so you have to share. If you break the rules, your ability to use the phone may be limited or cut altogether.
Phone Number: 785-421-2107

Get A Lawyer
If you have been arrested, you need to be aware that you still have rights, one of these being that you have the right to request an attorney. Remember that you may be limited to the amount of phone calls you can make, so you would be wise to have a friend or relative locate an attorney when you talk to them. I know you’re probably asking yourself right now ‘but do I really need a lawyer’ While you are not required to have one, a criminal attorney can advise you of your rights, protect your interests and help you understand the criminal justice system in your county. The sooner you hire an attorney to represent you and work on your charges, the better.

Public Defender
If you’ve been arrested and don’t have the money to hire an attorney, you will be assigned a public defender. In addition, the Public Defender has a number of staff such as investigators, experts in forensics as well as social workers. Have you ever had to use a court appointed attorney or Public Defender? Do you think they properly handled your case?

Court records contain a file containing a docket and all motions, documents, and evidence that have been filed in the case. You can access the records and documents in your court case with the internet service, or by going to the Graham County Clerk of Court where the case was filed.
Clerk of Court
A Clerk of Court is an officer of the court who maintains court records and controls access to them. They also administer the oath when court is in session, and also read the verdict when delivered by the jury. All records and documents relating to your case are kept and available to you at Graham County Clerk of Court office.
Fees
Court costs and court fees are the costs from your case, such as filing fees, motion fees and various court charges. If you are low income and have been assigned a Public Defender, you can get a waiver for these fees.
Magistrate
The magistrate is the type of judge who presides on your case in court. Magistrate judges do different tasks, like setting your bail amount, writing arrest warrants, and acting as the presiding judge over initial court appearances and detention hearings.
Pre-Sentencing
A defendant’s pre-sentencing report is put together with your background information and as much detail about the defendant’s life and public history, which the magistrate will take into consideration when determining your sentence. Information, details, and character witnesses will be solicited from the defendant, his or her family members, and, if applicable, the victim in the crime. Remember that you can request to see your own copy of the pre-sentencing report before your sentencing, so you get the chance to go over it and correct any mistakes in it.
Sentencing
If you get convicted of a crime during your trial, you will be given a sentence for your crime. The judge will have several different options when sentencing you, ranging from community service to probation, to incarceration in either jail (short term) or prison (long term). Depending on the particulars of your trial, the severity of your crime, and any sentencing guidelines that they judge will use, you might get taken into custody immediately, or you could receive a date to surrender and report to jail to serve your sentence.

Life In Jail / What Its Like
Daily Life
Everyone knows that serving a jail sentence in Graham County Jail is quite unpleasant, soon you will settle into the routine that is set for you. All inmates get an alarm to wake up at 6am, and then you’ll have roll call. You will then eat breakfast. Following breakfast you will work in the work program that you’ve been assigned to. This could be working in the kitchen, laundry, or some sort of manufacturing job. While this may seem tedious, it may help you when you leave jail, as you are gaining experience in a certain field of work. Other inmates go to school, while some take part in mandated treatment programs. After lunch, there will be another roll call, then back to work. Your evening will be spent either in your cell or a common room. During this time dinner is served and you will be expected to take a shower. After another roll call, it’s lights out. Even though you will be confined to your cell, there may be enough light to read or write letters. Then again, most inmates welcome lights out, and try to get as much sleep as they can.
Most people are frightened at the idea of jail because they don’t know what to expect. If you have spent any time in Graham County Jail, your experiences would be welcomed, if it can help another person to deal with it.
Dress Code
When incarcerated, all inmates are expected to wear the Graham County Jail uniform. This is normally a jumpsuit or scrubs. Of note to anyone visiting an inmate – you must be properly dressed. Any clothing considered inappropriate will not be permitted.
How To Send Money to an Inmate
You will have your own ‘bank account’ while in jail. This money is used to purchase items from the Commissary. Family and friends can deposit money into this account for you, and any money you earn while in prison will also be deposited into your account. Outside money can be paid in to your account via a money order, cash or check. If someone sends a check or money order, make sure that they write your inmate ID on it. The maximum amount you are allowed in your account is $290 per month.
The rules for sending funds to people in jail is always changing, so it would be best to review the official website when send funds to someone in jail there.
Commissary
The commissary is the jail store. You can purchase a number of things here, such as toiletries, snacks and writing supplies. Bear in mind that you will probably want to use the commissary daily, and any infractions will get that privilege taken away from you.
Inmate Medications
If you are on any type of prescription medication, you will be allowed to continue taking it while in jail. When you are first processed, you will be asked what medication you take. You will then be referred to the jail nurse or doctor who will be in charge of monitoring your health and prescribing your medication.
Meals
You will get three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. As expected, they are very basic, but healthy. A typical breakfast might be cereal, toast, coffee and fruit. Lunch might be spaghetti, salad, bread and milk. Dinner could be chicken casserole, rice, vegetables, dessert and milk. Contrary to popular belief, prison food has greatly improved over the years, and you might find that it’s not much different from what you would eat at home.
Pods / The Yard
The jail is designed in a ‘pod’ layout, with self-contained housing arranged around an outdoor yard. Each pod has a central control station and a common room, and the inmates take turns in using the yard. The jail is designed this way to keep certain inmates together, and others away from the general population.
Gangs
As with life in general, gangs are a part of prison life. Obviously it is best to avoid becoming a part of this environment as it will only lead to trouble. When you first enter prison, you might find yourself being ‘primed’ to join a gang, or worse, you might get their attention in a negative way. The best thing to do is keep your head down and don’t get involved.
