Family, friends, or other sources may add money to inmate’s accounts by sending it by the U.S. Postal Service and Western Union.
Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends are able to send inmates funds through the postal service and must send those funds to the following address and follow the policies provided below:
The money has to be in a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day hold, and during this hold period the prisoner will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender money orders that don’t have valid prisoner information but only if the envelope has a return address. Checks and cash cannot be deposited to the prisoner’s account so don’t send any cash or checks.
