You should use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day holding period, in which the inmate will not get the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will return money orders that do not have correct prisoner information provided the envelope you sent it in has an adequate return address. Personal checks and cash won’t be deposited so do not send any cash or checks.
