Take I-75 North to Exit 306, Adairsville/Summerville Exit. Turn left onto Hwy 140 West for approximately 19 miles. Turn right onto Hwy 27 north for approximately 14 miles to Summerville city limits. Continue through Summerville for approximately five miles. Entrance to Hays State Prison is on the right.

Inmate Money

Every prison has a Commissary which was created to provide prisoners a bank-like account for inmate funds and for buying things not issued to inmates by the prison.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone can send money to inmate’s accounts with Western Union or by mail.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends can choose to send prisoners money through the postal service and have to send it to the address below and do so in accordance with the policies written below:

The funds have to be a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You are advised to use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day holding period, during which the inmate will not have access to the depsoit. The Bureau of Prisons will send back money orders that do not have valid prisoner info provided the envelope you sent it in has an adequate return address. Cash and personal checks won’t be deposited so don’t send checks or cash.

Victim’s Rights

The Victim Rights Act grants victims the following rights:

  • Victims have the right to protection from the accused.
  • Victims have the right to notification.
  • Victims have the right to attend proceedings.
  • Victims have the right to speak at criminal justice proceedings.
  • Victims have the right to consult with the prosecuting attorney.
  • Victims have the right to restitution.
  • Victims have the right to a speedy trial.
  • Victims have the right to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect.

The definition of victim includes:

  • Spouses and children of all victims.
  • Parents and guardians of minor victims.
  • Parents, guardians and siblings of mentally or physically incapacitated victims or victims of homicide.
  • Foster parents or other caregivers, under certain circumstances.

There are a number of services and programs designed to help victims and their families. You can find out about these services by contacting the courthouse, or local law enforcement agency.

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.

    I’ve watch a show called hard time and I’m kind of appalled Georgia prison system it’s designed to take young men’s lives just like that I was looking at the story of one named Adrian Durrell English and my heart felt for him the cruelty that he faces everyday while being locked up that’s enough for any man to bear especially an innocent man and I feel that the state should have investigated his case a little more than what they did instead of coming to the conclusion that he murdered his child even though he was found guilty a man still shouldn’t have to go through those types of crime against them after all ready receiving his punishment prison is supposed to reform a person it doesn’t seem like that is what’s going on there Adrian English my name is Cain if somehow you can leave this post I’m sorry about your loss and about the things that you are going through no man should have to go through that no matter what he have done if you need someone to talk to well right on the outside I could be a friend for you my email is Cowboycain75@gmail.com if somehow I can get your Prison number and the things I need to know I could I would write you a letter if you want but in the meantime keep your head up don’t let those horrid things that you’re going through break your spirit Jesus gives you peace in and what seems to be a hard place I know it’s hard to find hope when a person have gone through so much and you got an enemy at every corner but be inside yourself and not inside the world take care of my brother

    My husband is in hays state and we have been trying a month to get my phone number on the approved call list all I want to do is hear my loved one again before I wasn’t in a position to be able to put money now I just need to know what I need to do to get on the approved call list
