Every prison has a Commissary that was started to provide inmates an account for inmate monies and for buying items not issued to inmates by the facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone may send funds to inmate’s Commissary accounts with Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send inmates money by way of the mail and will have to send it to the following address and do so in accordance with the directions listed below:

The money has to be a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You are advised to use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day holding period, and during this hold period the prisoner will not have access to the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender any funds that don’t have appropriate inmate information if the envelope has a valid return address. Cash and personal checks can’t be deposited to the inmate’s account so don’t send cash or checks.

Living Units 1, 2, 3 and 4 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM
Living Units 21-25 and 31-36 from 9:00 AM until 3:30 PM
Saturday/Sunday
Living Units 1 and 2 from 9:30 AM until 3:00 PM
Living Units 3 and 4 from 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM

Living Units 31-36 from 10:30 AM until 4:00 PM
General Population Offenders residing in LU 1 A pod are allowed 1 visit per weekend; Friday, Saturday or Sunday. This visit must be scheduled 72 hours in advance and is a non-contact visit.
Offenders who are removed from population or in punitive segregation are not allowed visits.
Administrative Segregation visits are dependent on the offender’s placement in the segregation level system. Visits must be scheduled 72 hours in advance. Visits are Monday thru Thursday , non-contact and no more than 2 hours in length.

Educational programs are inclusive of Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED, GED and English as a Second Language.
Career and Technical Education programs are inclusive of Business Entrepreneurship, Computer Information Systems, Construction Technology, Custodial Training, Electronics Technology, Food Production Management, Graphics Media and Desktop Design, Heavy Equipment, Print Technology, Welding, and Upholstery.
Self-Improvement Classes are available to include Coping Skills, Parenting, and Pre-Vocational.
College classes are available but do require offenders to pay tuition.
Academic classes are available in Administrative Segregation. Post GED classes are also available for offenders meeting the criteria.

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
