Inmate Money
How to Send an Inmate Money
Anyone may deposit money to these Commissary accounts by sending it by Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.
Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends are able to send inmates funds in postal mail and have to send those funds to this address and do so in accordance with the directions shows below:
The funds have to be in the form of a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is best if you use a U.S. Postal Service money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day hold period, in which the prisoner will not have access to the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender any funds that don’t have correct inmate information if the envelope has a return address. Cash and personal checks will not be deposited to the inmate’s account so do not send any checks or cash.
