It is best if you use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day hold period, in which the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return funds that don’t have correct inmate info but only if the envelope has a return address. Personal checks and cash can’t be accepted so do not send cash or checks.
