Every state prison has a Commissary that serves to provide inmates a bank account for inmate money and for purchasing things not issued by the correctional facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Friends, family, or other people can send money into these accounts by sending it by the U.S. Postal Service and Western Union.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can to send inmates funds in the mail and will have to send the money to the address below and do so in accordance with the policies given below:

The deposit must be in a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is best if you use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day hold period, and during this period the inmate will not get the money.
