Inmate Money
How to Send an Inmate Money
Anyone can add funds to prisoner’s Commissary accounts using Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.
Via U.S. Postal Service: Inmates’ families and friends can choose to send prisoners funds through postal mail and have to send it to this address and do so in accordance with the policies listed below:
The money has to be in a money order that is made out to the prisoner’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day hold period, and in this time the prisoner will not get the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender money orders that do not have valid prisoner info but only if the envelope you sent it in has a return address. Personal checks and cash won’t be accepted so don’t send any checks or cash.
