It is best if you use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day hold period, in which the inmate will not have access to the funds. The Bureau of Prisons will return funds that don’t have correct inmate information provided the envelope you sent it in has a valid return address. Cash and personal checks can’t be deposited to the prisoner’s account so don’t send cash or checks.

You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
