You should use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be held for a 15-day hold, and during this period the inmate will not get the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender funds that do not have appropriate inmate info if the envelope you sent it in has a return address. Cash and checks cannot be accepted for deposit so do not send cash or checks.
