Directions

From Raleigh, take U.S. 70 to Goldsboro and turn right onto O’Berry Center Road. Drive until it ends and take a left onto Old Smithfield Road which will take you to a stoplight. Take a right at the light and drive by the Cherry complex and across the railroad tracks. Wayne Correctional Center will be on your left.

Inmate Money

Every prison has a Commissary that serves to provide inmates a bank account for inmate monies and for purchasing things not provided by the facility.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone can add funds to inmate’s accounts by sending it by Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can choose to send inmates money through postal mail and must send the money to this address and follow the policies shows below:

The deposit has to be in the form of a money order made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is advisable to use a postal money order, since all non-postal money orders that are processed through the National Lockbox will be kept for a 15-day holding period, during which the inmate will not have access to the money. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender money orders that don’t have valid inmate information provided the envelope it was sent it has a valid return address. Personal checks and cash can’t be deposited to the prisoner’s account so don’t send checks or cash.

Visitation will be by appointment only.

Appointments are to be made at least 2 days in advance, up to 2 weeks in advance.
Appointments will be taken:
Tuesday: 8:30am -11:30am and 12:30pm – 4:30pm
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
Scheduled visitors are to be across from the front gate, by the brick wall, 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit, 8:15am or 12:45pm for check-in. Those visitors arriving after that will be checked at 9:20am or 1:50pm to visit the remainder of the scheduled session
Regular Population (not assigned to ABE, GED, or Computer Classes or DART/AND):
Wednesday 8:30am – 10:30am 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Thursday 8:30am – 10:30am 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Friday 8:30am – 10:30am 1:00pm – 3:00pm
DART/AND, ABE, GED, and Computer Classes:
Saturday 8:30am – 10:30am 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Visitation Sign-In and Check-In

The visitation officer ensures every visitor signs the prison visitors log when they enter the prison and upon exiting.

Identification Required

Picture identification of all visitors will be required. Appropriate forms of id are Driver’s License and Social Security Card; although, a state photo I.D. is OK.

Victim’s Rights

The Victim Rights Act grants victims the following rights:

Victim Notification

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System (VNS) is a system that provides victims with information pertaining to their case and/or any defendants in the case. You will receive a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow you to access VNS via the internet or by phone. Here, you will find information about future court hearings, historical court events, and detailed information about the defendant. This will include criminal charges filed, the outcome of charges, sentence imposed, custody location, projected release date and any other release information. The VNS website is updated daily. You will also receive any ongoing information by mail or email.
