How to Send an Inmate Money

Friends, family, or other people can send money to inmate’s Commissary accounts using Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends are able to send inmates money by way of postal mail and must send it to this address and follow the rules given below:

The money has to be a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. It is best if you use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be subject to a 15-day hold period, in which the inmate will not have access to the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender funds that don’t have valid inmate info if the envelope you sent it in has a return address.
