Inmate Money

Every prison has a Commissary that serves to provide an account for inmate money and for purchasing things not issued to inmates by the prison.

How to Send an Inmate Money

Anyone can send funds to prisoner’s accounts using Western Union and the U.S. Postal Service.

Via U.S. Postal Service: An inmate’s family and friends can choose to send inmates funds in the mail and have to send funds to the following address and follow the steps listed below:

The deposit has to be in a money order that is made out to the inmate’s full committed name and complete eight-digit register number. You should use a post office money order, since all non-postal money orders processed through the National Lockbox will be placed on a 15-day holding period, and during this hold period the prisoner will not get the deposit. The Bureau of Prisons will return to the sender any funds that don’t have appropriate inmate information if the envelope has an adequate return address. Checks and cash cannot be accepted so do not send checks or cash.
